Yoghurt is a highly healthy dairy food product. It provides a number of health benefits. Most importantly, it can be used in a number of homemade recipes to produce some great tasting dishes.

Here are a few of these recipes:

Strawberry Frozen Yogurt

For this recipe you need:

1tsp lemon zest,

1 tsp lemon juice,

1 tsp rum, ¾ cup sugar,

4 cup hulled and chopped strawberries,

1 vanilla bean with the seeds scraped and the bean halved

1 cup plain whole milk Greek yoghurt.

Directions

Add sugar, strawberries, rum, lemon juice, lemon zest to a bowl and toss. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and leave for an hour to let the strawberries macerate. Later crush the berries in a food processor and add yoghurt and vanilla beans. Blend until smooth and let it chill for an hour. Pour the chilled yoghurt mixture into the already cooled ice cream machine and churn till the mixture turns slushy for 12 to 15 minutes. Freeze the mixture and serve cold.

Homemade yoghurt with apple compote

The ingredients required for this recipe include:

4 cups whole milk

¼ cup maple syrup (optional)

¼ cup non-fat dry milk

¼ cup plain yoghurt

For the apple compote, you need 6 cups Granny Smith apples, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, ¼ cup brown sugar, ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon, ¼ cup water and a pinch of salt and let the mixture simmer.

Directions

Heat the milk in a pan with the temperatures reaching 185 degrees F, on a medium-low heat. Once the milk steams and the heat has been turned off, whisk in the dry milk into it. If you are using maple syrup, whisk it in. Keep the mixture aside for 20 to 30 minutes and allow it to cool to a temperature of 110 degrees F. Whisk the plain yoghurt.
Pour the mixture into a large glass bowl or jar and cover with a plastic wrap or kitchen towel with a few holes. Set the mixture in a place where the temperature is between 95 and 105 degrees F for 12 to 18 hours. Once set, transfer the yoghurt to the refrigerator and allow it to chill. Serve chilled after stirring.

Yoghurt is a very healthy product and therefore, many individuals include them in their daily diet. While yoghurt can be consumed plain, it can also be used in a variety of recipes to produce great tasting dishes. Here are some yoghurt recipes:

Blueberry Frozen Yogurt

The ingredients for the recipe are:

2 cups chilled reduced-fat 2-percent plain Greek yogurt

1 pound frozen blueberries, thawed and drained

Two 3-inch-long sprigs fresh thyme

1 tablespoon plus 1/3 cup honey

1/4 cup Agave

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

Mix 2 tbsp of water, 1 tbsp honey, thyme sprigs and ¼ cup blueberries in a heavy saucepan. Mash the blueberries using a potato masher and place over medium-high heat. Bring it to a boil. Remove from heat, cover the pan and keep it aside for 15 minutes. Uncover the pan and discard the thyme sprigs while allowing the syrup to cool.

Blend the remaining blueberries, yoghurt, 1/3 cup honey, agave, lemon juice and the cooled syrup prepared. Blend until the mixture is smooth. Transfer the mixture to a glass container and allow it to freeze for at least 8 hours. You may even leave it overnight. Serve the slightly soft, frozen yoghurt in bowls.

Frozen Yoghurt Pie

This recipe requires ingredients like:

1 Graham cracker pie crust, homemade or bought from the store

8 oz. Cool Whip, thawed

2 containers fruit yoghurt

1 small packing of frozen fruit, thawed

Take a large bowl and put in the Cool Whip, yoghurt and fruit in it. Pour this into a pie shell that has been pre-prepared. Smooth the edges and cover it. Freeze the mixture for 3 hours. Prior to serving shift the mixture to a refrigerator for half to one hour. Slice and serve with fresh strawberry garnishing. You can use blueberry, raspberry or other fruits.
